Pimple is very common skin condition in which the spots, whiteheads or blackheads, are formed on the skin. These spots are commonly formed on the chest, face, back and arms. The skin becomes greasy due to the oily secretions deposited by the spots on the surface. Pimple mostly effect teenagers, between the ages of 13 and 18, but it can occur at any stage of life. The spot formation may be more or less and it depends on the severity of the condition. In extreme conditions the full body part, like face, may be covered with Pimple spots.

Pimple is usually developed due to the blocking of skin pores. Our skin has tiny pores that can only be seen through microscope. The hairs or follicles also grow out through these pores. The skin needs the constant supply of water, nutrients and certain oils that are necessary to keep it soft and supple. These oils are supplied to the outer surface through special glands that are present underneath the skin and are called sebaceous glands. These glands secrete a special oily substance called sebum that is deposited on the skin surface through the tiny pores. As a result the skin looks fresh and healthy.

Sometimes, due to some reasons, the pores are blocked and sebum cannot come out. This results in the accumulation of sebum under the skin pores. In this atmosphere, the bacteria start growing and cause the infection. As a result of this infection, the skin becomes red and tiny spots called whiteheads or blackheads are formed. This is how the Pimple is developed.
