pimple is an all encompassing word that is broadly used to describe skin eruptions that are caused by the way hormones effect sebaceous glands. To be more specific, the human body is covered with pilosebaceous units. A pilosebaceous unit consists of a hair follicle, a hair, and a sebaceous gland. These units are found just about everywhere except the lower lip, the soles and tops of the feet, and the palms of the hands. Any place on the body that has pilosebaceous units has the potential to develop a pimple or a blackhead and that is how pimple starts.
