Fad diets almost always have these common characteristics:
* They come out of “nowhere,” and no one claims responsibility for them.
* They get passed around from one person to another, either by word of mouth or by email.

I came across a post on a weight loss web site this morning which grasped my attention and I simply felt I had to do my best to set the record straight. Unhappily for me, and many other hypnotherapists, the author made a very valid point.
The author had come to the conclusion that hypnosis for weight loss was just a fad. (more…)

What are the positive aspects of diet companies and fad diets?
There is no doubt about the fact that diet companies such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig and fad diets have their definite positive aspects. Foods recommended by many of these weightwatcher companies obviously meet up the caloric ingestion that can provide weight loss. (more…)

Dieting, fasting or rigorous exercise programs are all different methods of losing weight. You must have tried a few of them only to realize that nothing works for long unless you change your eating habits and lifestyle. Fad diets, energy drinks and many other so called health supplements are not recommended just because they do not let your body burn fat naturally. (more…)

A very strict diet is not only impractical, but it is also impossible. The worst part of a fad diet is that most of them are either super restrictive, or they recommend eating way too much of one type of food. They are not based around achieving optimal health, but rather on achieving short term weight loss. They are also known as short term fat loss diet. Typically, any weight that you may lose on following these types of diet usually comes right back within several days after stopping the diet. These diets have one thing in common, they are very popular for several years and then they fade away into diet obscurity. A fad diet is not the solution to your problems. For some time now newspapers and magazines have said that fad diets don’t work. Many dietitians said to stay away from them. We know the temptation; it’s not easy. What do you say when you have a friend that is following a high protein diet and losing weight quickly? It may be tempting that if you are following a well put together eating plan and losing weight at a snails pace to jump ship and jump on the fad diet. (more…)
