When it comes to Pimple treatment, many sufferers often fall into trap of rushing straight for over-the-counter medication as their first point of call. They fail to realize that often times an alternative and sometimes more effective solution is readily available – homemade Pimple remedies. Why should I even consider them as a solution, you ask. Well, there are a plethora of reasons that support such remedies as the best possible answer to your Pimple problems.
For starters there are many documented side effects that often accompany the use of conventional medications, largely caused by the common active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. Some people with sensitive skin may experience rashes or swelling upon prolonged use, while others may suffer from blistering or even scaling of skin in rare instances. With homemade Pimple remedies, such side effects are of no concern, since no harmful or foreign chemicals are introduced.
Additionally, treatments with pharmaceutical creams and ointments do very little at addressing the underlying cause of Pimple, rather focusing only on the superficial treatment of the symptoms. On the flipside, homemade Pimple remedies are effective because they focus on a holistic solution that will not only cure Pimple but also ensure that the body is provided with adequate defences to prevent future breakouts.
Here are my 4 tips on how to use homemade remedies to combat Pimple:
1. Drink certain tea(s) regularly
A Chinese favourite, Chrysanthemum tea is perfect as a first step to treat Pimple. It is believed to dispel body heat and relieve body toxicity. To make this tea, add 6 to 8 g of dried flowers (readily available from Chinese pharmacies) to 2-3 cups of boiled water. Let the flowers steep for a few minutes, then strain the liquid. Drink it regularly throughout the day. Used alone, it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for Pimple to clear. A great accompaniment to this is a tea concoction brewed with a combination of nettles, dandelion root and herb, rosehip, grangula bark, senna leaf and anise fruit twice daily. Use an equal ratio of the plants and fill a tea ball with the mixture. The tea is ready for drinking after the plants have steeped in hot water for 5 minutes. This is an excellent homemade Pimple remedy that helps in detoxification and blood purification.
2. Revamp your fruit, vegetables and meat intake mix
Changing your eating habits may be the simplest yet most effective way of actually reducing your Pimple. Eating the right type of vegetables is crucial for this to succeed. Eat plenty of dark green and orange vegetables so as to maximize your beta carotene intake. Beta carotene, or Vitamin A in layman’s terms, is an excellent skin food and aids in achieving a healthy complexion. Ensure that vegetables are eaten steamed or lightly cooked so the nutrients and fibre are retained. Reduce your meat intake to only once daily and ensure you eat high-yielding proteins, better if they are high in omega-3 fatty acids. Cold water fish or oily fish like tuna and salmon are great examples. High coloured fruits also yield good benefits so long as you steer clear of extremely sweet fruits. Sugar and simple carbohydrates (like fructose) encourage sebum production in your glands and also feed bacteria and yeast. In terms of sugar ‘potency’, fructose is up to 6 times worse than glucose, so monitor the sweetness of fruits you eat.
3. Harness the benefits of essential oils
One homemade Pimple remedy that is often overlooked is the use of essential plant oils. You cannot stray too far from tea tree oil if you want a good natural antiseptic. The good thing is, unlike other commercial skin antiseptics, this will not cause irritation or dryness. Apply 5 drops of a 5-15% solution in diluted water to a cotton ball and then dab directly onto affected area. Alternatively, you can use peppermint essential oil for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic properties. To use, apply a couple of drops to a piece of cotton wool and instantly run a bit of water over it to dilute it slightly. Dab directly on the site of Pimple.
4. Maximize the benefit of certain seeds & nuts
Many do not realize that seeds & nuts need not simply be a supplement but a major player in an anti-Pimple diet regime. Nuts are not only bursting with micro-nutrients like zinc and iron, but also contain vital antioxidants such as selenium that destroy skin ravaging free radicals. Good examples of these are Brazil nuts and walnuts. They come with additional benefits as well. Raw almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds are also a good source of skin-healthy vitamin E and essential fatty acids (please do not let the name scare you). Ground flaxseed will provide you with adequate fibre that helps in relation oil regulation.

The skin is one of the largest organs in your body; it is also one of the most important defenses against bacteria. The cells that make up the skin keep regenerating but sometimes this is not enough to prevent the occurrence of Pimple. One of the most effective ways to cure Pimple naturally is to use nutrients. Healthy skin requires an adequate supply of nutrients and removal of toxic substances.
Green tea can help you get rid of Pimple because it has anti-inflammatory chemicals that remove free radicals from the body. These free radicals can cause you to get Pimple and also create fine lines on your skin.
Instead of using saturated fats when cooking, start cooking with monounsaturated fats such as sesame or olive oil. The fats help the cell membranes and provide nutrients to make the skin glow.
Nuts such as walnuts which are rich in omega-3 oils are powerful antioxidants that help to reduce Pimple on your skin. You can also get these oils from any type of oily fish or flaxseed oil.
Any type of berry including cranberries, blueberries and raspberries which have phytochemicals that protect the skin cells will also help cure Pimple. Remember you have to eat them fresh and not preserved or frozen.
Lemon juice can be effectively used in natural Pimple treatments to help fade Pimple scars. Lemon juice bleaches and you can place a slice on the spots everyday for a whole week. to see the results. Lemon juice can also be used to exfoliate by mixing it with some sugar to clear blocked pores.
Cereals and whole wheat bread are great for Pimple treatments because they contain selenium which is used in the production of healthy cells. Some of the other foods that have selenium include eggs, meat, nuts and fish.
Foods that contain zinc are very helpful if you want to reduce Pimple because it boosts the immune system. Zinc can be found in whole grains, mushrooms and eggs.
Fruits should also form a large percentage of your diet because they contain Vitamin A which is essential in fighting Pimple. Some of the fruits you can eat to get Vitamin A include cherries, grapefruit, oranges, mango, watermelons and avocado.
Vegetables are also helpful in treating Pimple and you can either eat them raw or cook them for about five minutes. Some of the vegetables you can eat include carrots, turnips, tomatoes, spinach and peas.
